Vinyasa
Flow from breath to movement, twenty minutes of continuous motion with a rest between every second pose.
Eight a.m. · six seats
Boutique yoga studio
A small studio in a converted print shop. Eight in the morning and five in the evening, taught by two people who would rather be on the mat.
Free first class. No class to join before that.
The room
Stillpoint is a converted print shop with tall windows, cork mats, and a kettle that is always on. We teach four practices a week, each one short enough that you can leave before your coffee goes cold.
There is no music track and no timer on the wall. The teacher counts to ten and says it out loud, so if you miss a beat you hear it before you land.
A class is built for the person who arrived late, not the one who was early.
The practice
Every class ends with a long rest. If one of these feels like nothing, it is the wrong practice for you, and that is fine.
Flow from breath to movement, twenty minutes of continuous motion with a rest between every second pose.
Eight a.m. · six seats
Hold each pose for two to three minutes and let the connective tissue do the work. The floor is the only prop.
Five p.m. · eight seats
Supported rest with blankets, bolsters and a block. Aim for twenty minutes of doing nothing at all.
Wednesday · seven seats
Stillness with attention on the breath, no movement at all. For anyone who has been through a long week.
Monday · four seats
Who teaches
Vinyasa and restorative
I stopped teaching when I could not finish a class without stopping myself twice. Now I teach the parts I would want to learn.
Teaches since 2016. Believes a good class is one where nobody has to move through a pose they do not understand.
Breathwork and yin
The first minute of a class is not the point. The first hour is.
Teaches since 2019. Works with people who have not moved since they were children and would rather be still.
Both teachers work one to one for the first ten minutes of every class. If you are new to yoga, that is the whole reason the room is this size.
