01 / Identity
Northline, the identity system
Type, colour, and the rules that keep both honest.
Independent studio / brand identity & spatial installations
OBLIQUE builds brand identity and spatial installations for art museums, fashion brands and hotels. Few clients, few projects, very little explaining.
Selected work from the last four years. No case notes, no process diagrams.
Position
Identity and space are the same problem in different clothes. A mark that does not work in a room is a mark nobody will use. We design the mark, the room and the light around it, then hand it over in one set of files.
Scroll to move sideways. Six projects, four of them in space.
Practice
Identity is what a brand is allowed to say. Space is where that saying gets heard. Both start with the same question: does this still work in a room?
Most studios hand you a mark and leave you to figure out the room. We hand you the room first, and the mark follows it.
Three sectors, no exceptions
Exhibition identity, wayfinding, and installations that have to be walked through, not photographed.
Lookbooks, capsule collections, and the packaging that survives a shelf and a photo shoot.
Reception, lobby, and the small details a guest notices before they notice the bed.
We take on a handful of projects a year and we never split a brief with a partner.
